Any Jeep off-roading adventure is a surefire bet for mud, water, and caked soles which can permanently stain your carpet or make your footwells permanently disgusting. To protect your carpet and floor pan, we like to rely on a solid set of front and rear floor mats as their rock-solid construction and unique design consisting of raised edges, deep channels/ridges, and reservoirs work to trap debris, contain spills, and keep your interior floor spotless. To help you choose the best Jeep Wrangler floor mats, we evaluated over two dozen different models based on material and design, ultimately narrowing down the list to just seven of the very best. Here’s what we recommend.

Heavy duty construction with reinforced edges, deep ribs, and a durable molded thermoplastic.

Good combination of value and functionality.

We researched more than two dozen different Jeep Wrangler formats, evaluating them based on construction, design, material, value, and length of warranty.  Although there are many options, not all made the cut. Of those researched, we brought the list down to seven of the very best. More on Automotive Parts & Tools

The Rugged Ridge Floor Mats are a workhorse set of driver, passenger, and rear floor mats as they’re constructed using injection molded thermoplastic with a chevron-shaped raised tread pattern designed to capture mud, dirt, and water. We like the fact it has a high perimeter wall and rolled reinforced edges to prevent liquids from seeping through to your carpet and floor pan, and an extra layer of protection makes it a winner in our book.

On top of the Rugged Ridge Floor Mats build quality is the fact that it is also a breeze to clean with nothing more than a quick water rinse required. On the bottom, raised nibs and your OEM retention hooks also keep the Rugged Ridge Floor Mats firmly in place. Plus, it comes with a limited lifetime warranty, which is one of the most generous warranty lengths on our list.

The Kiwi Master Floor Mats offer solid performance across the board, starting with a durable thermoplastic elastomer construction and a loud, busy design with narrow grooves and super deep ribs to trap small and large particles off of your soles. On its front and passenger mats, deeper ribs are concentrated in the heel area and taper off towards the middle and front. With the rear mats, its rubs are highly concentrated in the middle, which all makes a lot of sense given one's resting foot position when seated in these locations.

All mats are designed to stay firmly in place using bottom-raised nibs and your OEM hooks and fasteners. Bonus points for the Kiwi Master Floor Mats’ limited lifetime warranty. That said, customers have noted that the attachment tabs aren’t the most durable and they most definitely aren’t designed for comfort with the plastic being quite hard to the touch.

The Husky Liners 99001 Jeep Wrangler Floor Mats are designed to offer solid edge-to-edge front driver, passenger, and rear floor protection and are constructed using warp and chemical-resistant thermoplastic olefin. The mats work using a smart combination of raised tread and quarter-circle channels to redirect liquid and debris along the surface. Pointed cleats along the bottom also prevent the mat from shifting out of place.

Arguably, the Husky Liners 99001 Jeep Wrangler Floor Mats' biggest draw is its proprietary FormFit Edge technology, which uses raised ridges along the door jam to prevent spills from tipping over. It also uses laser scanning technology to ensure a direct fitment. Bonus points for coming in the choice of black, gray, and tan colors, especially with color selection being a weak point with rubber floor mats.

The Plasticolor Jeep Weatherpro Floor Mats offers one of the more intriguing designs we've researched. This four-piece mat set is made using polyvinyl chloride, a material that feels like hard plastic. Channels are varied, consisting of diagonal lines and raised tread pads, capped off with the Jeep logo on the front driver and passenger mats. However, it does not have raised reinforced sidewalls, a deep concave design, or other design points that work much better at containing spills, so we like these more for lighter duty driving.

Another feature we like with the Plasticolor Jeep Weatherpro Floor Mats is its anchoring system. Anchors and raised nibs on the mat's underside prevent them from shifting and sliding. They are also very easy to clean, needing nothing more than a quick soap and rinse.

Our pick for the best Jeep Wrangler floor mat goes to the Rugged Ridge Floor Mats. We appreciate a heavily ridged and raised tread pattern that captures mud and dirt, along with effective liquid management using a high perimeter wall and rolled reinforced edges. Its injection-molded thermoplastic gives it plenty of UV, heat, and wear resistance.

Rubber floor mats offer the best all-weather protection. Its thicker and denser construction makes it better suited to deal with harsh climates and handle a lot of dirt. It also lends itself to specialized tread patterns consisting of deep channels and grooves to better trap debris and liquid.

Consider carpet floor mats good for lighter duty driving and for foot comfort over all-weather protection. Carpeted floor mats come in a variety of fibers and color options. It goes without saying that these types of mats stain easier, wear and tear faster, and provide less traction. Even heavy vacuuming may not be enough to get rid of stains.

Thermoplastic elastomer floor mats are constructed using a mix of plastic and rubber, along with filler blends. They are known for their heat, chemical, and UV resistance along with better elasticity and design options than rubber floor mats. Durability is on point, as these are less likely to curl up or harden, even with heavy wear and tear. Expect additional features such as spill-containing ridges, raised walls, and raised tread/rib patterns.

Our preferred material for Jeep Wrangler floor mats is rubber and thermoplastic elastomer. Both offer exceptional UV, moisture, and wear resistance and lend enough density for deep grooves, channels, and raised edges designed to trap debris and contain spills. Our only knock on rubber is the lack of color options, mainly limited to black and brown.

One benefit of thermoplastic elastomer is its flexibility. A hybrid of plastic and rubber, thermoplastic elastomer floor liners do a better job of retaining their shape than rubber, fitting over gaps and footwells easier. Note that there are different thermoplastic blends, with the most common being thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), thermoplastic olefin (TPO), the softer, inexpensive polyethylene, and the harder polypropylene. All are known for their waterproof, UV, and heat resistance.

Unless you are exclusively driving on-road or prefer cushioning over protection, we do not recommend carpeted floor mats. Many carpeted floor mats carry no rubber backing, allowing moisture to seep through to your factory carpet.

When it comes to the best Jeep Wrangler floor mats, design means everything. All-weather Jeep Wrangler floor mats usually lead with a "deep dish" design with deep channels and grooves to channel water and mud through to a reservoir, which can be emptied as soon as you step out of your vehicle.

Do not forget anti-slip technology. A combination of "carpet claws,” OEM factory retention hooks, and/or raised nibs on your floor mat's bottom surface work to prevent them from shifting.

Of less importance is color. Most Jeep Wrangler floor mats come in black or brown colors. Rubber and thermoplastic elastomers usually carry fewer color choices than carpeted and fabric mats.

The best Jeep Wrangler floor mats need nothing more than strong, repeated swipes at the air to loosen debris and run water off, followed by a quick rinse. Rubber floor mats only need water. It is a welcome change over carpeted mats that require a motorized brush and multiple wash cycles with no guarantee of removing all stains.

When it comes to pricing, the best Jeep Wrangler floor mats run the gamut. For $25 or less, expect vinyl or carpeted universal fit floor mats, not laser cut to adhere to your footwell's contours. Floor mats priced between $25 and $99 generally see upgraded material (e.g. lower grade rubber and cheaper polyethylene). The higher tier ($100 and up) sees more dedicated options, such as heavy-duty and thermoplastic elastomer options with deep ribs, reinforced/rolled edge sidewalls to contain liquid, and narrow channels and grooves to trap smaller particles.

As with something you do for decades upon decades, you pick up a few tips and tricks along the way in terms of selecting the right product, and/or using it. That’s the case with us and Jeep Wrangler floor mats. To help you bridge the information gap, here’s a selection of what we’ve learned along the way.

You’ve got questions. The Drive has answers!

A: Periodic maintenance is easy, just remove the mats from the vehicle, shake them out, and reinstall them. This will remove debris and dirt. For more thorough cleaning, remove them from the vehicle and wash the mats with mild soap and water. Then rinse them off with a hose, dry, and reinstall.

A: Most Jeep Wranglers come standard with floor mats for front and rear floors. However, you may opt for a different set based on your driving habits and preferred design. Vinyl could be of use for lighter-duty driving and foot comfort whereas heavy-duty rubber and thermoplastic elastomer floor mats are best reserved for heavy-duty driving.

A: We highly recommend purchasing a complete set that includes driver's side, passenger's side, and rear floor mats.
